Corporate Director of Sales
Whitney joined Newport Hospitality group in 2004. In her role as Corporate Director of Sales, she is directly responsible for generating revenue for her portfolio of properties. Whitney’s roots are in sales at the property level, having worked for several years as a hotel Director of Sales. Prior to hotels she worked in Food and Beverage Management for Darden Restaurants. Her background provides her with a valuable and enlightened perspective as she assists in the development of hotel marketing plans, revenue budgets, sales productivity goals, and quarterly sales action plans . She works closely with her regional directors to ensure that established performance goals for each hotel are met and exceeded.
Whitney demonstrates a hands-on, involved approach to sales leadership. She aligns her activities and those of her sales team members to the idea that “Everybody Sells”. Whitney assists her properties directly by accompanying them on sales calls to key accounts, planning and participating in a sales blitz of key market areas, conducting quarterly on site sales audits and one on one coaching to correct any deficiencies identified. Whitney has been phenomenally successful in growing e-commerce sales for NHG through her strong understanding of third party websites, web 2.0 content and global distribution systems.
Whitney graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science in Business specializing in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Whitney remains involved with her alma mater specifically the HTM department. She works with students in a mentoring and internship capacity as well as occasional class lectures.
Whitney is an active member of several organizations and serves as an enthusiastic ambassador for each of her hotels by accompanying her sales teams to industry, civic and charitable functions.
